About the festival

DESIGN THAT YOU CAN MEET, TRY, EXPERIENCE.

Meat Design is an international design festival that connects designers, brands, architects, creators and thousands of visitors for three days every year. It was founded in Ostrava with the following vision: to bring quality design from catalogues, showrooms and screens to people. To present it live as a natural part of life – something we use, wear, inhabit, which influences the environment around us and often how we feel in it. Our festival is not just an exhibition or an event where you go to buy design. It is a space for discovery. In one place you can meet established Czech and foreign brands, small original projects, students and the emerging generation of creators. See products live, talk directly to their creators, find out how they are created, try something out – and of course, take home what appeals to you.

Meat Design includes an extensive accompanying program every year: lectures, interviews, workshops, installations, live art, architecture, fashion, crafts and experimental projects.

In addition to well-known names, we are also interested in people you may not know about today. From the beginning, Meat Design was a place where students and emerging creators could find space alongside established brands.

The first Meat Design took place in Ostrava in 2015. Since then, the festival has grown into an established meeting place for the Czech, Slovak and international creative scene. Ostrava is not just a venue. It is part of the character of the festival. We like its directness, industrial past, ability to transform and the fact that quality culture and design do not have to originate only in the capital. Meat Design wants to bring inspiration to Ostrava and show what interesting things are emerging from here.
